about

This track was inspired by the current extinction crisis that a number of species are currently experiencing. The song is centred on a
recording of the last living Kaua ʻ i ʻ ōʻō bird, a sample that acts as a proxy for the thousands of mammals, birds, insects, aquatic life, and micro - organisms that will go extinct within the next few years, as a direct result of anthropogenic climate change and pollution. The title of the track refers to the ecosystem where oceans interface with freshwater, and is often where the pollution accumulated in rivers by humans creates dead zones, where life ceases to thrive.
